Leasing FAQS

Leasing FAQs

Is the building open during the pandemic?

Yes, we are open as we are considered an essential service. We remain open for our current residents and for those looking to live with us. Our maintenance staff is on site to assist with any emergencies.

What are your hours of operation during the pandemic?

Our staff can be reached by phone, email, or in-person during our standard leasing hours – please call us for details.

What is the current rental process?

We have a seamless online leasing process that is accessible through the website. You can book a Facetime/Skype tour then submit your application online – all with a click of a button. Upon receipt, we will send you a lease to reserve a room. That's it! Everything can be completed from the safety and comfort of your home.

I want to rent a room, but I am nervous to sign a lease because of COVID-19. What should I do?

You can still submit your application online. Upon receipt, we will send you a lease to reserve a room.

Since apartments are shared, is it safe to move in?

We have taken necessary precautions and have been doing our part to flatten the curve. Amenity areas are now open with guidelines in place. Guidelines include, structured hours of operation with a cleaning schedule in place, limited number of people allowed in the facilities at a time and wearing a mask when required. In addition, all entrances, elevators, laundry rooms, and garbage rooms are sanitized daily.

Our professional cleaning staff will disinfect the apartment prior to your move in. Once moved in, we ask that you and your roommates implement a frequent cleaning schedule to protect the health and safety of all residents of the apartment.

I have already signed a lease. Will my lease be cancelled because of COVID-19?

No. At this time, neither the federal nor provincial government have issued any official legislations with respect to dissolution of in-place tenancy agreements in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, all tenancy agreements are still in effect; however, in specific situations, we will evaluate and determine the best course of action.

Stay well and stay safe.

Sincerely,

The MARQ Student Communities
